IMC Lab Excellence: Reaccreditation Survey

Iberia Medical Center’s Laboratory recently underwent a comprehensive three-day survey by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and received reaccreditation.

Recognized for its rigorous standards, CAP accreditation elevates quality and helps laboratories contribute to improved patient outcomes.

During the recent CAP accreditation process, designed to ensure the highest standard of care for all laboratory patients, inspectors examined our laboratory’s quality control, testing protocols and compliance with accreditation standards. CAP inspectors also examined laboratory staff qualifications, equipment, facilities, safety program and record, and overall management. These reviews helped to verify the laboratory’s operational performance and reflect the most recent best practices.

Surveyors were impressed with lab processes and efficiencies, and made additional positive comments about their entire experience while at Iberia Medical Center.

Congratulations to the pathology and laboratory medicine team for this significant accomplishment that further demonstrates our commitment to high-quality patient care, patient safety and best practices.

Friends and team members gathered on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 to formally recognize and congratulate Daphne Landry, NP, Surgery and Pulmonology Clinic Supervisor, recipient of the Wilbur Allain Memorial Stellar Award.

As a Surgery Clinic Manager and Nurse Practitioner, Daphne goes far beyond her job description. She is a problem-solver, a mentor, a therapist, and a friend. She anticipates needs before they arise, handles crises with composure, and somehow still finds time to uplift those around her. We are all stronger, more effective, and better cared for because of her presence.

Daphne’s leadership, clinical expertise, and unshakable dedication keep everything—and everyone—together. She supports not only the clinic but also our surgeons and hospital nursing staff, often bridging gaps with calm efficiency and heartfelt care. Daphne also goes above and beyond for every patient, family member and her office staff. She will never say "that’s not my job" and she is always willing to help in anyway needed. Daphne is STELLAR because she is one person who everyone can count on.

This award is dedicated to our clinical personnel who consistently demonstrate excellence in patient care, embodying the highest standards of professionalism, compassion, and expertise. Named after Wilbur Allain, a revered figure in our organization who epitomized dedication to clinical excellence, this award aims to recognize and celebrate the outstanding efforts of our clinical staff and direct caregivers.
