Iberia Medical Center PROMISE Award Presented

November 4, 2025

Friends and team members gathered on Monday, November 3, 2025 to present Gwen Politte, Environmental Services team member, with the Iberia Medical Center PROMISE Award.

Gwen was nominated as she exemplifies the PROMISE standards in the way she conducts herself daily. She is professional and always on time. She shows ownership daily in how she takes care of her 4th floor, not only in the cleaning but also in how she interacts with the clinical staff. She manages up her department and follows safety protocols to keep herself and others safe.

When it comes to excellence, this is where Gwen sets herself apart from others. Gwen has a special gift for interacting with patients, employees and visitors. Every morning when she announces herself to a patient room for cleaning, she comes in singing praises and lighting up the room. Patients and visitors respond with appreciation for her vibrancy.

The PROMISE Award is designed to honor the exceptional contributions of our non-clinical staff members who play a crucial role to ensure the optimal functionality of our healthcare facility. Whether it is through administrative support, hospitality services, or any other non-clinical role, this award celebrates individuals who exemplify the core values of our organization and contribute to the overall success of our team.

Iberia Medical Center Nationally Recognized with "A" Grade, Again

Iberia Medical Center has once again received an “A” grade for patient safety for the Spring 2023 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades. This prestigious national distinction continues to recognize Iberia Medical Center as among the top in the nation for patient safety.

The Leapfrog Group’s Hospital Safety Grade is widely accepted as the ‘gold standard’ for hospital patient safety in the healthcare industry. This recognition celebrates hospital achievements in prioritizing patient safety at every level of the organization.

“We are very proud to have sustained this high standard and will continue to work to provide access to high quality care for our community.  Only 25 percent of the hospitals across the country receive an “A” from The Leapfrog Group, placing us in an elite group at the state and national level. Nothing is more important to us than offering our patients trusted care in a safe environment,” stated Dionne Viator, Iberia Medical Center CEO.

The Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog organization, assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D,” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on over thirty national patient safety performance measures. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.

“It’s very rewarding that our physicians and hospital staff are being recognized for their dedication to patient safety and quality by such a respected national organization, stated Dionne Viator. I congratulate our team on this well-deserved achievement.”
