History of the Foundation
The Iberia Medical Center Foundation was founded in 2003 by Iberia Parish residents devoted to providing philanthropic support for Iberia Medical Center. Funds raised over these many years have been reinvested into the hospital to improve the quality of care provided to the residents of Iberia Parish.
One of the most important chapters in the Foundation’s history is the generous funding provided by Wilbur Louis Allain, Sr.
Mr. Wilbur Allain was one of the charter members of the Iberia Parish Hospital Service District No. 1 Board of Commissioners in 1951. He participated in the planning, design, construction and operations of Iberia General Hospital for the succeeding twenty-three years, serving as Chairman of the Board for thirteen of those years.

His son, Raymond E. Allain, was instrumental in the creation of the Iberia Medical Center Foundation in 2003, and the Wilbur Louis Allain, Sr. Memorial Fund in 2012 through generous financial contributions.
