Two Pediatric Groups Join Forces - Tuesday, February 07, 2012
|
|
The Children’s Practice of
Iberia Medical Center (IMC) and the Pediatric Group of Acadiana (PGOA) are
pleased to announce they are joining forces on the campus of Iberia Medical
Center on or about April 1, 2012. PGOA
will relocate the largest part of its New Iberia operations to medical office
space recently constructed to house the Children’s Practice, at 2308 East Main
Street directly across from the hospital.
The combined entity, which will be operated by PGOA, will provide the
same comprehensive services that have been offered by each medical group but
with increased efficiency, expanded hours of operation, and additional
physicians. When the two groups
combine, it is expected they will have a total of 8 to 10 physicians to meet a
broad range of the community’s pediatric care needs. Offered at the IMC location will be services to include a
walk-in clinic, a practice for scheduled visits, KidMed services, and a Shots
for Tots program. John Tucker, CEO
of Iberia Medical Center said, "The combination of the hospital’s pediatric
program, headed by Dr. Walter Scott, with PGOA, which is led by Dr. Jibran
Atwi, should serve to strengthen pediatrics in the community, make service
delivery more efficient, and provide an improved call schedule for the
pediatricians.” According to Dr.
Atwi, "The pediatric programs at Iberia Medical Center have always had an
excellent reputation.” It is
anticipated that several of the current support staff of the Children’s Practice
will be offered positions with PGOA at one of its two New Iberia locations,
East Main or North Lewis, or at one its other practice locations in Acadiana,
which include Lafayette, St. Martinville, Abbeville, Breaux Bridge, and
Carencro. Patients
requesting copies of their medical records may contact IMC’s Health Information
Services Department
