Iberia Medical Center Signs Definitive Agreement to Purchase Dauterive Hospital - Thursday, December 17, 2015

Iberia Medical Center officials today signed a definitive agreement to purchase Dauterive Hospital.  The transaction is expected to close before year-end 2015.  This follows the October 2015 announcement that the two organizations signed a letter of intent.

"For nearly a century, Dauterive Hospital, our incredible employees, Board of Directors and medical staff have provided high quality healthcare services to our community, said Brad Mabry, CEO of Dauterive Hospital. "The world of healthcare delivery is changing and by combining the resources of our respective organizations, we will better serve the healthcare needs of New Iberia for years to come. While the transition and change will require a lot of hard work and dedication, we are confident the end result will better our community.

In connection with the transition, Dauterive Hospital will wind down current operations in order to complete its closure of the hospital on or about December 31, 2015.

Iberia Medical Center is currently working on obtaining the regulatory approvals needed to re-open Dauterive Hospital in spring 2016.  The hospital will be called Iberia Medical Center North Campus and will offer short-stay and outpatient surgery, behavioral health services, inpatient rehabilitation, imaging, sleep lab services, and other outpatient services.  It is anticipated that during the temporary closure, Iberia Medical Center will commence improvements to the hospital facility to accommodate its future needs. All of the Medical Office Buildings and physician practices on the campus will remain open during the transition period.

"The acquisition of the Dauterive Hospital campus will allow IMC to continue the legacy of quality care and services that the two hospitals have provided in our community for decades, said Parker Templeton, President and CEO of Iberia Medical Center. "As one hospital, we will enter the next generation of competitive healthcare with a strong presence in Acadiana, still delivering personal and individualized care.

Iberia Medical Center is committed to transferring as many existing Dauterive Hospital employees as possible into open positions.  Dauterive Hospital staff will be given top priority for the positions being created to accommodate the additional volume at the Iberia Medical Center Main Campus during the transition period and as services re-open at the Iberia Medical Center North Campus.  Leaders from Iberia Medical Center will be meeting with Dauterive Hospital staff and physicians in the coming days and a job fair is scheduled for Thursday, December 17
