Hyperbaric Oxygen Technician - PRN
This position is: As Needed Basis
Position Location: Iberia Medical Center

 Essential Job Functions:

  • Performing maintenance activities of the hyperbaric chamber(s) and associated systems and equipment, as directed.
  • Report safety issues and/or concerns.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of the policies and procedures of Accelecare and Hospital. Chamber operational competency workbook to be completed within 90 days of hire date.
  • Complete the patient's treatment charges on a daily basis.
  • Perform data entry into the Clinical Data System and collate reports as requested by the Program Director, Clinical Manager and/or Medical Director.
  • Ensure that medical records include serial photographs of the wound for reporting of the patient's progress and participate in taking photographs, if so designated.
  • Perform transcutaneous oxygen monitoring testing as ordered and per departmental policy.
  • Perform dressing changes and/or wound care, within scope of practice, as ordered, and participate in wound center activities when HBOT volumes allow for such activity.
  • Perform marketing duties as needed, intra- and interdepartmental.
Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

ˇ  Must be credentialed or licensed in the state where working.     Current license, certification, or training is required in one of the following qualifying vocations:

o Registered Nurse

o Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN)

o National Board of Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist

o Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician

o Certified Hyperbaric Technologist

o Emergency Medical Technician

o Diving Medical Technician (DMT)

o Military Corpsman

o Commercial or Military Diver

o Life Support Technician

  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in healthcare or the diving industry is required. Wound care, hyperbaric medicine, and/or experience in emergency medicine or acute medical care is preferred.
  • Specific training and/or experience in compression chamber operations, including a demonstrated knowledge of decompression tables strongly desired.
  • Ability to physically meet the working conditions required of the job.
